Odds Disclosure

Each Team is structured so that its tickets collectively cover every possible Powerball (or Mega Ball) number. When a Team is fully filled and every required ticket is successfully issued and remains valid, the Team covers every bonus-ball number. Under the current game rules, that means at least one Team ticket will match the drawn bonus ball. This does not guarantee a profit or recovery of ticket costs.

This guarantee applies at the Team level. It does not mean every individual ticket wins a prize on every drawing — the other tickets in the Team hold different bonus-ball numbers and are evaluated under the standard prize tiers for whatever white-ball numbers they hold.

Prize winnings on the Team's bonus-ball match are shared among Team members evenly across every seat. The Lotto Winners Club holds no seat and takes no share.

Marketing copy on this site refers to second-prize odds of "about 1 in 12 million." This is a blended average of the official Match-5 (no bonus ball) odds for Powerball (1 in 11,688,053.52) and Mega Millions (1 in 12,629,232), which averages to approximately 1 in 12,158,643.

This figure describes the standard, government-published odds of the second-highest prize tier in each game. It applies to any ticket, whether purchased individually or through a Team, and is not created or altered by our Team coverage strategy.

Our Team coverage strategy is specifically designed around the bonus ball number (Powerball or Mega Ball), not the white-ball numbers.

• What it changes: Because the Team holds every bonus-ball number, exactly one of its tickets always matches the drawn bonus ball. The Team's chance of winning the jackpot is then the chance that its shared five white-ball numbers match — 1 in 11,688,053.52 (Powerball) or 1 in 12,629,232 (Mega Millions). That is the same result as one person buying 26 (or 24) tickets with every bonus-ball number: the Team buys more tickets and pays for every one of them. No ticket's individual odds are improved, and the Team's cost rises in exactly the same proportion as its coverage.
• What it does not change: The odds for every other ticket in the Team, and the odds of every other prize tier, remain exactly as published above. Team play does not alter the fixed, government-set combinatorics of either game for any ticket other than the one holding the matching bonus number.

When a Team is fully filled and every required ticket is successfully issued and remains valid, at least one Team ticket will match the drawn bonus ball under the current game rules. That ticket wins whatever the bonus-ball prize tier pays for that drawing, and the Team's members share it.

Under normal game rules, that prize is $4 for Powerball and $10 to $50 for Mega Millions (a $5 base prize times the 2X–10X multiplier printed on the winning ticket). We cannot guarantee the amount: in rare cases, such as an unusually large number of winners in one drawing, the game's rules allow set prizes to be reduced. A $4 prize split across a 26-seat Powerball Team is about $0.15 per seat.

A full Powerball Team has 26 seats at $2.50 each ($2.00 ticket + $0.50 convenience fee), or $65.00 per drawing; a full Mega Millions Team has 24 seats at $5.50 each, or $132.00 per drawing. A bonus-ball-only prize is normally far less than the Team's cost.

Any prize is shared equally among Team members under the Team Prize Sharing Agreement. Coverage applies to the Team as a whole: it does not mean any specific member's ticket wins, and it does not guarantee a profit or recovery of ticket costs. Coverage fails if the Team is not full, a ticket is not issued or is invalid, the drawing is canceled, or the game's rules change.
