Team Terms & Prize Sharing Agreement

Exactly how a Team works: positions, numbers, coverage, and how winnings are split.

Last updated October 5, 2026 · Version 2026-10-05.4 · Draft

Oregon legal hold

Teams are not available in Oregon. This agreement describes how Teams are designed to work so our attorney can review the exact structure. It is not a statement that Teams are permitted.

Counsel review required · Oregon amended its courier rule (OAR 177-040-0053), effective May 1, 2026, to prohibit a courier from selling an interest in a Lottery ticket or operating a matching service. Our attorney must decide whether Teams and Pools are permitted as designed, must be restructured, or cannot be offered in Oregon. Until then, Teams and Pools are not available in Oregon, and the site cannot charge anyone for them.

1. What a Team is

A Team is a set of ticket orders for one game and one specific drawing. A Powerball Team has 26 positions; a Mega Millions Team has 24. That is one position for every possible bonus-ball number (Powerball 1–26, Mega Ball 1–24).

  • Each position is one play: one member buys one position.
  • A member may hold only one position on any given Team, but may join more than one Team.
  • Positions are numbered 1 to 26 (or 1 to 24) in the order members join. Position number N plays bonus ball N.
  • When the last position fills, the system picks one random set of five main numbers. Every position plays those same five main numbers, each paired with its own bonus-ball number.
  • Megabucks has no bonus ball and is not offered as a Team.

2. What full coverage does and does not guarantee

When every position is filled and every ticket is validly issued, the Team holds every possible bonus-ball number, so one of its plays will match the drawn bonus ball. Under current Oregon prize rules, a bonus-ball-only match pays $4 for Powerball (before any Power Play) and $10 to $50 for Mega Millions (after its built-in multiplier).

This is not a guarantee of profit, of getting your ticket cost back, of a minimum return, of a jackpot, or of any member's payout. A full Powerball Team costs $65.00 per drawing (26 × $2.50) against a guaranteed $4 prize; a full Mega Millions Team costs $132.00 (24 × $5.50) against $10 to $50. Coverage fails if the Team is not full, a ticket is not issued or is invalid, the drawing is canceled, or the game's rules change. A Team that is not full is never described as having full coverage.

2a. Club Teams and private Teams

Club Teams are open to any member. A private Team is started by a member (its captain), who invites people to join. Both work exactly as described in this agreement, with one difference: on a private Team, The Lotto Winners Club pays the Oregon Lottery ticket price for the captain's own position as a promotion, and no service fee is charged on that position. Every other member, including invited members, pays for their own position (ticket price plus the $0.50 service fee).

The captain's club-paid position is a full member position. It receives an equal share of the Team's winnings like every other position. The Lotto Winners Club gets nothing back for paying for it: no position, no share, and no repayment from the captain's winnings.

Counsel review required · Counsel to confirm that a courier may pay for a member's ticket as a promotion under Oregon's courier rules, and how that ticket counts toward the 3% purchase limit.

3. Joining and agreement

Before you take a position, you are shown this agreement and must accept it. We record the agreement version, the time, your member ID, the Team, and the drawing. Your wallet is charged the ticket price plus our $0.50 service fee when you take the position.

4. How winnings are shared

  • Every prize won by any of the Team's plays in its drawing is Team winnings. It is not paid only to the member whose position matched.
  • Team winnings are split equally among every filled position, to the cent.
  • If the total does not divide evenly, each leftover cent goes one at a time to the members who joined first (position 1, then 2, and so on).
  • The Lotto Winners Club holds no position and takes no share. 100% of Team winnings go to members, less only any legally required tax withholding.

Counsel review required · Counsel to confirm how ownership of each Team ticket should be described, so that nothing in this agreement sells a fractional interest in a ticket in violation of Oregon's 2026 rule.

5. Paying prizes

  • When no single winning ticket is $600 or more, each member's share is credited to their wallet after the drawing is officially validated.
  • Any single winning play of $600 or more is held out and handled manually. It requires identity verification and tax documentation, and it follows Oregon Lottery claim procedures. The Team's other, smaller wins from the same drawing are still credited normally.
  • A jackpot is never credited automatically. It is always handled manually under Oregon Lottery rules and may require every member to take part in the claim.
  • We never charge a fee to pay a prize.

Counsel review required · Counsel to confirm how the Oregon Lottery handles a large prize owned by several members, including tax reporting for each member.

6. Taxes

Each member is responsible for taxes on their share. We may collect your taxpayer identification number and withhold or report amounts when the law or Lottery procedures require it.

7. Formation, cut-off, and unfilled Teams

Each Team is offered for one drawing only, and we show whether it is open, full, or closed. If a Team is not full by the purchase cut-off for its drawing, no tickets are bought for it, and each member's full payment, including the service fee, is returned to their wallet.

8. Purchase limits

Every Team counts toward Oregon's 3% single-drawing limit together with all other orders on our service. We may close a Team or stop sales for a drawing before that limit is reached.
